Brief Job Overview
This is a sales professional manager level position wherein the incumbent will be responsible for establishing, managing, and executing sales-related activities, including building and managing a pipeline of sales prospects, generating revenues from new and existing customers, and supporting and managing relevant distributor relationships. The incumbent will be responsible for working closely with Marketing and Development teams to execute on strategies and tactics developed to accelerate market adoption, increase customer base and meet revenue targets. The incumbent is also responsible for driving revenue and reporting results on a frequent schedule, including taking actions as necessary to overcome challenges along the way.

The Business Development Manager, Microbiology has the following responsibilities:
• Achieve or exceed direct and distributor sales targets set by management.
• Territory: United States West Coast and Midwest.
• Build and manage a pipeline of qualified leads in pharma, biopharma industries and compounding pharmacies segments through outbound prospecting.
• Lead conversion of these qualified leads into orders and revenues for USP.
• Develop, execute and maintain target customer account plans that incorporate customer specific strategies and goals to meet and exceed revenue targets for existing and new accounts.
• Maintain and strengthen business relationships with Key Accounts to ensure long term revenues and market share growth.
• Manage, develop, train and support commercial distributors and partner network.
• Participate regularly at conferences and events in collaboration with Marketing and Development teams as well as other USP teams as appropriate to network with customers and regulators, generate business leads, and present to audience on various topics related to USP Biosafety Testing Solutions.
• Ensure customer technical support, execute trainings and product demonstrations on an as needed basis.
• Work closely with Marketing team to support execution of strategies aimed at accelerating product adoption in the market and accelerating revenue growth. Provide recommendations on how to improve these strategies.
• Support Marketing team in the creation product marketing materials, sales tools, digital and social content, and any other promotional material required to support the execution of the multi-channel Biosafety Testing marketing plan.
• Able to understand market trends, dynamics and evolution of customer needs in his/ her territory, along with drivers and barriers for growth, communicate them efficiently, and seek support from the organization to build on opportunities and overcome challenges.
• Conduct periodic reviews of business and accounts growth plans, and sales performance KPI’s.
• Collect and communicate market intelligence regarding products, applications, and competitors.
• Monitor customer satisfaction.
• Support budget planning and revenues forecasting for Microbiology Business Unit.
• Maintain critical sales and customer related data using CRM software tools (Salesforce).
• Travel up to 30% of time on a monthly basis, mostly domestic.
Who is USP Looking For?
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated understanding of our mission, commitment to excellence through inclusive and equitable behaviors and practices, ability to quickly build credibility with stakeholders, along with the following competencies and experience:
• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• Five (5) to seven (7) years experience in Sales, Account Management or Business Development roles in life science industry in North America.
• A track record of successful sales experience, driving strong revenues growth in life science industry.
• Ability to work in full autonomy in a high-paced growth environment, with the capacity to use discretion and independent judgement.
• Strong teamwork.
• Excellent relationship-building skills with customers.
• Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communications skills.
• Proficiency using CRM software (Salesforce preferred).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Suite software, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
Additional Desired Preferences
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, or Biology.
• Combined education in Pharma/ Lifesciences and Business, MBA is a plus.
• 3+ years of sales experience in pharma/ biopharma QA/QC, Biosafety Testing field is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving skills with customer-centric approach.
• Experience with regulatory, quality assurance or GMP background is a plus.

Compensation
Base Salary Range: USD $97,000.00 - $124,750.00 annually.
Target Annual Bonus: 13% Varies based on level of role.
Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate’s skill set, experience, qualifications, equity, and other job-related reasons.
