This individual will be responsible for processing invoices for various operating costs, resolving discrepancies with vendors, and maintaining an accurate record of outstanding vendor charges. In addition, this individual will be responsible for preparing month-end accruals, building/maintaining certain spreadsheet documents, and supporting system implementations and other process improvements while working in a fast-paced environment. Essential roles and responsibilities of an Associate Staff Accountant: Process station related invoices (fuel, ground handing, airport fees, etc.) while validating charges and assigning the proper account coding Prepare and distribute monthly operating reports to airports served by SCA Prepare month-end journal entries for various station expenses and accruals Assist in preparing schedules and retrieving backup for auditors, both internal and external Assist with accounting system implementations and ongoing process improvements Other duties as assigned The required qualifications we are looking for in an Associate Staff Accountant include: Associate's degree in Accounting or relevant experience 1+ years of experience in an Accounting position or related experience Experience in processing high volumes of invoices in an efficient and accurate manner Proficiency in the Microsoft suite and intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel Familiarity with general ledger accounting systems Familiarity with computer-based accounts payable management systems Ability to work with various internal teams in a cross-functional manner Ability to coordinate with external vendors to resolve billing discrepancies Strong communication and organizational skills Able to work flexible hours as required, particularly during the accounting close process and during annual audit Preferred skills: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance Experience with Microsoft Great Plains accounting system Advanced proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel Prior involvement in process improvement initiatives and system implementations Reports to: Stations Accounting Manager Work Location: Minneapolis, MN Work Schedule: Core business hours Other Duties: The above statements are intended to provide a summary of key responsibilities and the anticipated work environment of an accountant.
