The pay range is $54,800.00 - $98,600.00

Job Overview : A role with Target Packaging is an opportunity to support the development of packaging for Target’s beloved owned brands, exclusive partnerships and transit packaging. Your influence will drive sales and grow brand love through packaging that’s guest-centric, on brand, competitive “at shelf” and category relevant. Here, you’ll leverage internal and external partnerships to execute packaging planning for multiple departments, project management, collaboration with print planners and creative teams to achieve brand expression and market differentiation. Your work will include prioritizing and managing packaging projects, focused on meeting business needs while layering in sustainability and cost savings, all while delivering on time and on budget. As part of a global team spanning the U.S., China and India, you’ll work directly with domestic and international vendors and suppliers. As an Associate Packaging Engineer , you will:
Become an expert in structural packagingfor assigned categories working under the coaching of a Senior Packaging Engineer.
Collaborate with enterprise key internal cross functional partners to define packaging requirements, reviewand approve vendor structure & component capabilitiesthat meet guest needs and are in budget.
Ensure the primary packaging will protect, contain and display the product from the initial idea through final use for assigned categories and businesses while supporting corporate commitments like sustainability goals and EPR requirements.
Partner closely with a packaging technician post packaging approval to ensure item level packaging specifications are accurate, deadlines are met and products set on time and as designed.
Actively participate in prototyping and innovating design solutions for our Owned Brands.
Contributeto category and item level market research, including testing and guest feedback. Draw conclusions from relevant data and make appropriate recommendations.
Requirements :
Four-year degree or equivalent experience
1-3 years of prior experience, packaging or consumer goods manufacturing preferred
Ability to manage multiple projects on differing timelines, prioritize requests, and meet deadlines
Motivation to learn new skills, with passion for engineering and design
Ability to work independently and strategically in a fast-paced environment
Ability to contribute, lead and communicate in a highly collaborative team environment
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target’s needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member’s core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day.
