These include open programs, custom offerings, and partnerships with online providers. The Assistant Dean will lead a team that strives to make Carlson Executive Education the leading learning and development provider of choice for the top 100 companies in the Upper Midwest, and make executive education a pathway to connect faculty expertise with the growing leadership and business acumen needs of area executives and corporations. The Assistant Dean will report to the Associate Dean of Academic Innovation and Operation at the Carlson School and will be in charge of a growing team of staff members, currently around 10 members. The Assistant Dean will engage external stakeholders such as the Carlson School Board of Advisors, the Exec-Ed Advisory Board, and will be a visible thought leader at the national level on learning and development and leadership growth for executives and corporations. The salary range for this position is $180,000-$210,000 depending on qualifications. Supervision, Leadership, Strategy, Growth and Profitability (50%) Lead executive education unit in conjunction with Associate Dean to fulfil the ambition of being the learning and development provider of choice for corporations and executives in the Upper Midwest. Supervise at least three direct reports at the Asst Director to Director level aligned with the lines of business and operations. Develop and implement the strategic plan for executive education in support of the school's strategic goals. Serve as a key representative for Executive Education from the Carlson School to corporate senior management. Build relationships, assess needs and recommend programs that meet corporate needs. Set and achieve, in conjunction with Associate Dean, ambitious revenue targets for open and custom offerings leveraging the strengths of the Carlson School faculty. Achieve profitable growth and make executive education a provider of surplus to the Carlson School for strategic initiatives. Identify and execute online and digital strategy for executive education. Have financial acumen, prior profit and loss responsibility, the ability to set forecasts and manage against them. Identify appropriate partnerships and collaborations within the Carlson School, the University of Minnesota and the external community that build the brand and enhance the school's reputation. Collaborate with faculty and external educator networks who teach in executive education. Ensure high touch program delivery, high net promoter scores and repeat business with existing clients. Lead and motivate a staff of professionals to work together to achieve program goals. Manage staff development, performance reviews and employee administration for all direct reports. Serve as an effective leader, facilitator and liaison with Carlson School administrators, faculty academic department heads and other university professionals and departments. Serve as a role model of overall effective program leadership; provide program leadership and articulate clear goals and expectations for executive education. Serve as a member of the Carlson School Executive Committee. Marketing, Sales and Program Development (40%) Define a competitive and unique market position and brand identity for Executive Education. Lead a sales team that is proactive in procuring new clients and growing existing clients in accordance with a strategic sales plan, including being involved in selling both open enrollment and custom programs. Lead the nation in communicating and quantifying the value of learning and developmen to clients. Facilitate the identification of market trends, assess organizational needs, and partner with organizational leaders, faculty and key Carlson School constituents to deliver high quality and relevant open enrollment and custom programs. Work effectively with faculty in developing new open enrollment and custom programs that meet current market needs. Oversee the development of a strategic marketing plan for executive education that creates a differentiated brand. Collaborate with internal Carlson School programs/areas on marketing, sales and program development, i.e., corporate relations, MBA Programs, Enterprises. Administration (10%) Facilitate and promote an environment that supports diversity and demonstrates a commitment to the welfare and satisfaction of the participants and executive education staff. Provide leadership in the development of systems that gather client feedback and measure client satisfaction. Motivate the development of processes that lead to excellence in program delivery and client services. The employer reserves the right to change or assign other duties to this position Qualifications MBA or equivalent terminal degree from a globally recognized school with 10 plus years relevant experience in corporate learning and development or executive education in a leading business school, or leading product or service units with profit and loss responsibility. Demonstrated ability to create a strategic plan and execute it successfully.
