MCW: SARGEANT HEALTH CENTER Research Technologist II Barbieri Lab in MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position Description: We are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic applicant to work part-time with our team studying the molecular basis of microbial pathogenesis in Cellular Microbiology, particularly the pathogenic process of bacterial toxins. A successful candidate will plan and conduct laboratory experiments, analyze data, keep careful records and communicate data to the PI and the lab team members. Primary Functions * Carry out routine and complex experiments. * Monitor inventory and order lab supplies; carry out assigned duties for ordering, maintaining supply of inventory. * Prepare media and maintain cells by various culturing techniques. * Participate in meetings with principal investigator and research staff and evaluate/interpret the validity of data as needed. * Oversee daily lab operations in the absence of the supervisor or Principle Investigator. * Assist in development and implementation of research protocols. * Record and compile accurate records and communicate summaries of experimental results. * Help evaluate, interpret, and assess experimental data and quality control of assays. * Operate, calibrate and perform routine maintenance on specialized equipment used in research. Preferred Schedule: Casual Part Time-Hours as needed Position Requirements: Minimum Required Education: Bachelor\'s degree Minimum Required Experience: 1 year Preferred Education: MS in a STEM related discipline: chemistry, biology, biochemistry, microbiology, immunology, physiology Preferred Experience: Background in a cell biology, biochemistry, and/or molecular biology research environment Competency in two of three technologies: recombinant DNA technology, tissue culture, protein purification. Ability to document work in Lab Archives. Field: Cellular Microbiology Appropriate experience may be substituted for education on an equivalent basis.
