This Research Technician position is in the laboratory of Dr. Matthew Hearing in the Department of Biomedical Sciences. Dr. Hearing\'s laboratory is part of a diverse, collegial and highly interactive group of neuroscience research laboratories in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at Marquette University. Duties and Responsibilities The Hearing lab uses behavioral, genetic, neurophysiological, and in vivo neural activity approaches to study changes in brain function that underlie opioid addiction and neuropsychiatric disorders related to stress. The successful applicant will perform surgical procedures in mice and manage an individual research project. This management will include conducting experiments on a regular basis using state of the art technology as well as collecting and assisting in data analysis and manuscript preparation. Additional responsibilities will include maintenance of our mouse colony and general lab, and managing undergraduate research assistants as needed. Preferred applicants will have experience with research project oversight and management, including data management and analysis. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Bachelor\'s degree in a related field or advanced degree in a bioscience-related field with preferably (but not required) 1-2 years of related lab experience Must be willing to work flexible hours as necessary. Successful candidate will be expected to exhibit individual initiative, work independently; be technically proficient and accurate; effectively communicate in both written reports and presentations; initiate and ensure compliance with applicable safety procedures; and possess attention to detail. Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Bachelor\'s degree in a related field such as neuroscience, biology, or bioengineering.
