JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position Overview The Research Technician will assist in the management and operations of laboratory mouse colony. Duties and Responsibilities 1. Manage day-to-day operations in a transgenic rodent colony. Daily responsibilities may include any of the following: husbandry, handling, breeding, weaning, and euthanasia. 2. Collect tissues and process samples using routine molecular assays for genotyping. 3. Record keeping tracking size and composition of rodent colony. 4. Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. Work well in a team in a professional setting, demonstrate initiative, excellent time management skills, technical proficiency, and effective communication. Ability to conduct preclinical research with rodents. Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Hands-on research experience in molecular biology, biochemistry, neuroscience, or related discipline. Some prior knowledge of biochemistry, genetics, molecular biology, anatomy, physiology, and/or small-animal husbandry. Preferred research experience includes working with transgenic animal models, performing genotyping, PCR, Western blot Willing to work flexible hours as needed to perform occasional evening or weekend work due to the nature of our research program.
