JOB REQUIREMENTS: The Principal Software Engineer at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company in Milwaukee, WI will lead strategy and development of high impact enterprise solutions. Manage a team of engineers and lead talent strategy and development for software engineering division. Collaborate with business to understand business needs, strategy, customer needs and market trends. Establish business aligned goals and lead the division to meet goals. Demonstrate technical expertise and leadership. Apply industry leading and ground-breaking best practices in order to analyze and develop software solutions. Mentor, guide and coach engineers within division for technical and leadership growth. Influence technical, business and product leadership to overcome cultural, product or technical challenges. Develop strategies, write proposals, and pitch them across the enterprise for new architectures, systems and approaches. Design, organize, and execute high impact solutions across the organization. 100% telecommuting permitted. Requires a Bachelor\'s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, plus five years of progressive experience as a software development manager or related occupation. Five years of experience must include three years of experience with each of the following: (1) applying domain driven design and event driven architecture principles developing cloud native applications; (2) applying Design Patterns including CQRS, Circuit Breaker, Sidecar, Aggregator, and Event Sourcing; and (3) implementing payment solutions using ACH, Wire, BillPay, and Check processing.
