For more information, please view the 2024 Total Rewards Guide. Plumbing Technicians perform repair and preventive maintenance duties of plumbing systems and associated fixtures. Duties and Responsibilities 1. Perform repair and preventive maintenance work on various plumbing fixtures and systems. 2. Respond to and repair emergency plumbing problems, to include water pipe, faucet, natural gas or ceiling leaks. Will also repair and clear water/sewer problems. 3. Estimate, schedule and work to completion, routine and special projects related to job responsibilities. 4. Maintain tools, equipment and material inventories required to execute job responsibilities. 5. Coordinate work schedules with building occupants/department personnel. 6. Meet and assist various contractors in the coordination of project work. 7. Communicate with building departments or personnel regarding water, waste, or natural gas distribution interruptions. Provide temporary services as needed. 8. Must have the ability to lift up to 75 pounds. Must also have the ability to stand, climb stairs, bend and kneel for extended periods of time. 9. In the course of performing work, adheres to all safety procedures including lock-out/tag-out procedures, MSDS safety warnings, required personal protection equipment, and OSHA requirements. Advises supervisor of any unsafe work conditions encountered and/or conditions found in equipment that could pose hazards to others. Must have strong written communication and record keeping skills. Specific experience in basic carpentry, wall/floor tile, ceiling, and roof construction as well as strong mechanical ability. Must have knowledge of safe working practices. Must possess a valid driver\'s license with a satisfactory driving record. Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of plumb ng system maintenance, repairs, and operational principles, control strategies. Understanding of common federal, state, and local codes and regulations pertaining to maintenance and operation of plumbing systems and equipment. Occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trades.
