JOB REQUIREMENTS: JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Planned Giving Officer Job Grade: 27 Department: Resource Development Reports to: Manager, Individual Giving Date Prepared: 7.31.24 FLSA Status: Exempt JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for identifying, engaging, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding current and prospective planned (legacy) giving donors. Responsible for cultivating relationships with, and providing excellent donor service to, Legacy Society members and prospects, and Retire United volunteers who include many top community leaders and high-level donors. Additional responsibilities include supporting the Leadership and Major Gifts programs, and Donor Network and Corporate teams through the lens of building the Legacy Giving program. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional professionalism and discretion; have a working knowledge of all legacy giving vehicles and opportunities; and will be able to articulate the benefits of legacy giving to donors, to the organization and our community over the long term. With a strong alignment with United Way\'s culture and mission, and working closely with leadership, Manager of Individual Giving, and the Resource Development (RD) team members, this role is responsible for developing a pipeline of donors who will ensure the future of United Way through legacy gifts of all types. PRIMARY RESPONSIBLITIES Essential job functions and expected performance standards include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Lead efforts in securing new and newly revealed planned gift intentions, including bequests, charitable remainder trusts, charitable lead trusts, and other complex non-cash gifts and deferred giving vehicles. Lead the discovery and identification process for prospective planned giving donors by utilizing our CRM and constituent data to research and reveal the most likely planned giving donors. Assess the current state of the legacy giving program; partner with data and IT teams to create tracking and documentation processes in Andar; work with CFO to document current and realized legacy giving commitments in Andar.
