Overview
Our 280 hour class will provide hands on training that will assist prospective candidates with obtaining their National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) and state licenses. Within this 4 month course you will learn skills related but not limited to Emergency Medical Services (EMS) vehicle operations, airway management, cardiac emergencies, pharmacology, pediatrics, trauma, and obstetrics.
History of the Company: Superior Ambulance Service started in 1959 with one ambulance and today is the largest independent, locally owned, and operated emergency medical services provider in the Midwest. Superior employs more than 2,500 licensed Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs), Paramedics and Nurses, operating a fleet of more than 500 ambulances throughout Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, and Wisconsin. Superior also provides Critical Care, helicopter, and fixed wing emergency medical transportation.
We are looking for highly motivated and self-driven candidates to join the EMS Industry. We are offering an on-site 18 week EMT Student Program that will educate students and prepare them to challenge the National Registry Exam and become a Wisconsin Licensed EMT. All materials are covered by Superior Ambulance Service (SAS). Upon receiving their Wisconsin EMT licensure, the student will be hired as a full time employee and be required to complete a one year [12 months] commitment of continuous full time employment. There is NO cost for the selected students to attend the class unless they are unable to complete the one year of employment after licensure.
Responsibilities
Excelerated EMT Program Accelerated EMT Certification Program (Approximately 18 weeks, 2 days per week) that will educate and prepare you to successfully complete the National Registry Exam to become a licensed EMT. Direct employment is provided by Superior Ambulance after successful completion of the class and passing the national exam.
Qualifications
Possess a valid driver's license, satisfactory driving record in accordance with Superiors Driving Policy and must be able to safely operate a vehicle in various conditions, including daytime, nighttime and inclement weather .
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work cooperatively with other employees and medical agencies to provide the highest level of patient care.
Ability to pass a background check.
Ability to read and interpret all required documents and write required reports and correspondence.
Other qualifications/certifications specific to the local operation and/or contract requirements.
Satisfactorily meet company physical assessments/tests/drug screening. (Must be able to lift 137.5 lbs)
High School diploma or GED required, unless currently enrolled in High School.
Past training in healthcare related fields, or Military experience is welcomed but not necessary.
Must be 18 years or older to be considered.
Admission will be approved based on passing an entrance assessment.
