The Department of Pediatrics - Division of Hematology, Oncology, BMT is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to support the Pediatric Oncology services in a variety of clinical settings, working closely with an attending physician to care for pediatric oncology patients located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin at the MACC Fund Research Center. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) works as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team, providing direct patient care to children under the care of the inpatient and outpatient oncology service. Services will be performed in the Inpatient and/or Outpatient Oncology unit with the potential to also provide support in the Day Hospital and/or Procedures unit. The patient population includes oncology patients, ranging from infants to young adults. The Ideal Candidate will be passionate about Pediatrics and Pediatric Oncologic care wanting to be part of a thriving and very collaborative academic practice at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW). Areas of responsibility will include, but not be limited to providing direct patient care to patients of the Pediatric Hematologic and Oncologic services within a variety of clinical settings including inpatient and/or outpatient oncology unit with the potential to provide support in the day hospital and/or procedures unit. In this role you will: Collaborate with MCW pediatric oncology physicians and interdisciplinary health care teams in diagnosis and treatment of children under the care of the oncology service. Order, perform and interpret diagnostic tests, procedures, laboratory studies. Appropriately communicate findings with the medical team as well as patients and families. Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with the oncology physician, monitor effectiveness of plan of care throughout the patient\'s hospitalization; coordinate the care and discharge of patients. Document within the Electronic Medical Record accurate and timely admission, discharge, and progress notes, as well as writing orders and discharge instructions.
