Eurofins Materials Analyst, TEM | EAG Laboratories in Milpitas, California

A team of highly skilled and experienced scientists, engineers, and analysts offer both the expertise and technology to provide solutions for Analytical Microscopy, Surface Analysis and Failure Analysis. 

We're looking for an experienced TEM Analyst with a background in operating and analyzing materials using TEM (Transmission Electron Microscopy) techniques. In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Obtaining bright field/dark field TEM images, SAED (selected area electron diffraction) and STEM images of prepared samples. 

  • Performing elemental analysis by collecting EDX and EELS spectra and analyzing the data.

  • Organizing data and preparing summary reports to the customers.

  • Partnering with customers and team members to optimize experiments and interpret results.

  • Developing TEM analysis protocols for new sample types.

Work Schedule:

5pm-2am, Tuesdays to Saturdays  

  • B.S or M.S in Materials Science and Engineering or related field or equivalent industry experience.

  • MUST HAVE hands-on experience of TEM operations and characterizations.

  • Experienced with TEM sample preparation.

  • Excellent understanding of the operation and theory of Transmission Electron Microscope

  • Familiarity with FEI and JEOL electron microscopes, Oxford/Bruker EDS, Gatan EELS, and Digital Micrograph software

What would set you apart:

  • Extensive hands-on experience of different model of electron microscopes by FEI and JEOL.

  • Solid understanding of one or more areas of electron microscopy, semiconductor device physics and failure analysis.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to continuously operate a personal computer or lab equipment for extended periods of time (4 or more hours).

  • Ability to operate a keyboard and other lab equipment, use a telephone, access file cabinets and other items stored at various levels, including overhead.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and understandably ensure an accurate exchange of information in normal conversational distance, over the telephone, and in a group setting.

  • Ability to handle small and fragile devices with tweezers and /or fingers.

  • Require close distance visual acuity with or without correction (Glasses, Contacts, etc.).

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 80% of the time.

Compensation Range: $90,000 - $110,000.  (Salary is commensurate with experience and degree of technical expertise. Additional evening shift differential will apply.)
