About the role

Union HVAC Engineers will operates, inspects, and maintains mechanical and electrical equipment for commercial HVAC systems in assigned facilities to achieve most efficient results. Assures that equipment is being maintained in a safe manner. Minimizes down time through proactive performance testing and scheduled maintenance.

  • Must be a current member of Local 636 or be prepared to join the Local 636

What you’ll do

•Inspect air-conditioning units to ensure efficient operation

•Perform regularly scheduled maintenance on heating and cooling units

•Diagnose mechanical and electrical malfunctions

•Install, replace, or repair damaged equipment; calibrate thermostatic controls

•Install new heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems; repair and replace damaged or worn heating, ventilation and air-conditioning parts and equipment; repair or replace low- and high-pressure liquid lines

•Inspect and observe pressure of liquids and vapor with instrumentation to ensure efficient operation of unit and make necessary adjustment; inspect and service refrigeration equipment including refrigerators, ice machines, gas packs, and heat pumps

•Maintain the chilled and hot water supply systems

•Adjust and maintain internal electrical and electronic control systems; cleans coils, blowers, checks motors, and belt tensions

•Assemble and install metal ductwork

•Assist in planning and designing of new installations of heating and air-conditioning systems

•Maintain maintenance records as required by City, State, and EPA regulations

•Performs additional duties and responsibilities as required

•Recognize and identify potential risks and hazards associated with performing all work-related duties safely

•Work to mitigate potential risks associated with essential duties

•Collaborate with management personnel to maintain safe working environments

•Participate in a comprehensive OSHA-approved safety course (preferably OSHA 10- or 30-hour course) and adhere to company and regulatory compliance programs

•Obtain or carry low voltage electrical card

•Obtain or carry EPA refrigerant license

•Wear appropriate company issued uniform

•Obtain or carry any needed mechanical licenses for city or state work performed

What you’ll need

•Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.

•CFC Certified

•2-year Associates Degree

•Completion of a formal apprenticeship program preferred.

•Valid driver's license required.

•Experience in Industeral Enviroment and working on Industerial HVAC Units

•Certification in two or more of the following perfered: Electrical, mechanical, HVAC and refrigeration systems, process controls, mechanical power transmissions, painting, plumbing, carpentry or engine repair as well as CFC Certification.

•Requires knowledge of financial terms and principles and to understand operating budgets. Ability to calculate intermediate figures such as percentages, discounts, and/or commissions. Conducts basic financial analysis.

1.Complete all required and assigned HSE training at a satisfactory level,

2.Follow all activity policies and procedures, including all HSE-related requirements at all times,

3.Participate in all HSE-related programs & activities as required, including incident investigations, interviews, auditing and assessment, etc.

4.Report any conditions which you feel could result in an accident or injury and / or stop work if required.
