Job Description
The Speed and Traffic Control Capability Team is passionate about defining, integrating, and testing of Advanced Automated Driving systems and is looking for a Senior Systems Capability Engineer to help us lead and manage the development and integration of automated driving technologies.
In this position, you will have the chance to support our Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) strategy, work at the intersection of hardware, software and automated driving technology to define, develop and execute the features within the Speed and Traffic Control Domain by participating or leading key engineers across teams and regions to ensure alignment with requirements and integration with software. The capability engineer is also a hands-on end to end capability owner that will test and ensure performance meets expectations in both the vehicle and simulation. This engineer will need to apply solid technical understanding, critical reasoning and a structured approach to solving problems within agile development that can allow for quick and fast pace changes for the ADAS Pillar and have a hand in the early stages of GM`s next generation vehicles.
The ADAS DRIVE organization works on ADAS software that is Designed, Requirement responsible for our features, Integration lead, Validated, and Executed across all GM vehicle programs. Responsibilities Include:
Participate with, or lead, multi-functional development team discussions with software teams, capability domains, Product management, program management and key partners to ensure alignment with peers and downstream customers
Analyze and negotiate requirements with internal and external stakeholders throughout product development and integration. Focus on Feature performance and lead technical solutions.
Be the hands-on end to end capability owner that will test and integrate System level capabilities on simulation, close course and real-world on vehicle.
Triage and analyze test data from simulation and vehicle testing to guide development prioritization and requirement refinement.
Test case formation responsible to enable a validation test plan that is traced back to the feature requirements.
Effective communication of issues and support the ability to solve problems and prioritize/balance workload as they arise
Apply solid technical understanding, critical reasoning and a structured approach to solving problems in both familiar and unfamiliar domains
Ability to handle agile development approach and quick, fast pace changes that enable customer facing improvements
Additional Job Description
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Physics, Math, Computer Science or related technical degree
Minimum of 4 years of engineering experience
Deep understanding of active safety systems, vehicle performance and automated driving technology
Effectively handle multiple priorities while maintaining a dedication to the tasks at hand
Ability to identify problems, analyze varying courses of action to resolve and negotiate efficient solutions and implement contingency plans
Strong technical and non-technical communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Engineering
Experience with the development of automotive safety or convenience features
Knowledge of computer software as it pertains to engineering
Performance integration or validation background
Consistent record of processing large amount of information, identify multiple parameters, interdependencies and inconsistencies to provide both high-level systems overview and deep domain expertise
proficient usage of Jira and Jira Xray
This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Milford, MI three times per week, at minimum [or other frequency dictated by the business if more than 3 days].
