Job Description: Program Coordinator II Duties ? Office of Strategic Planning and Research ? Data Analytics Unit: The Program Coordinator II position will be part of the Data Analytics Unit (DAU), reporting to the Program Coordinator III and Director of Data Analytics Unit, within the Office of Strategic Planning and Research. The Program Coordinator II will supervise a Program Coordinator I. The Office of Strategic Planning and Research, composed of the Data Analytics Unit (DAU) and Research and Planning Division, provides statistics, research, and evaluation results to guide planning, management and decision-making strategies for effective prison operations, policies, legislation, and services. The DAU serves as a knowledge hub, supporting incarcerated individual data, analytics projects, information requests, research, and publicly available mandated data reports and briefs, conducts analytics projects and creates Tableau dashboard reporting systems for Massachusetts Department of Correction (MA DOC). The Program Coordinator II is responsible for conducting and designing data projects to include data preparation, data auditing, report writing, advanced data analysis, and dashboard review, development, and management. The Program Coordinator II will be able to adhere to unit procedures and processes to meet high standards for data organization, auditing, quality, and security. The Program Coordinator II performs on-demand report generation, ad-hoc queries, and analytic tasks. Writing and revising basic SQL queries to extract raw data using SQL software is an integral part of this position. Candidates will possess the ability to assess, analyze and meet needs of stakeholder requests to create data sets. This position requires high-level experience with TOAD, SQL, TOAD for Data Point, or another data query and extract tool, and experience with Tableau Dashboard Technology. The Program Coordinator II will be responsible for the supervision of staff to include mentoring and review of work produced, oversee and monitor assigned unit activities to ensure effective operations, compliance with established standards, determine progress and effectiveness. Candidates will possess the ability to train staff in database queries, performance measures, and data analysis. Performs other duties as required. This position requires the ability to complete independent work and contribute to team-based work, and the ability to balance multiple and competing priorities and deadlines. We are looking for a team-oriented specialist with data collection and analysis experience, able to present business intelligence findings. Ability to adapt to fast paced, evolving requirements, including learning new applications and new software systems is integral part of being on this team. Prompt communication via email and organizational skills are fundamental for success in this position. Experience in and knowledge of criminal justice, social and data sciences or a related field is advantageous. This position is hybrid-remote eligible. Skills: Supervising and/or Project Management Skills. Experience with statistical software to include TOAD, SQL and Tableau Dashboards. Skilled in SQL, data query and extract tools, querying relational databases. Experience collecting, auditing, organizing, and processing large quantities of data for analysis. Experience within Excel and techniques in charts, graphs, and pivot tables. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively is essential. Ability to adapt to fast paced, evolving requirements, including learning new applications and new software systems. Strong judgment, analytic reasoning, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Experience and/or degree in Criminal Justice, Sociology or related field is preferred.
