Facilities Technician Generalist – Maintenance Dept.
Job Summary:
Performs unsupervised scheduled/unscheduled general building/facility maintenance, carpentry, facility equipment and utility repairs as needed to provide continuous availability.
Job Duties:
Performs unsupervised work in all phases of carpentry including but not limited to drywall construction, finishing and painting, etc.
Performs basic plumbing repairs – removing, repairing or replacing pipe, fixtures and makes repairs to same. Cuts and threads pipe, solders and installs.
Conduct weekly fire suppression system PIV valves and fire pump operation checks.
Conducts daily air compressor up keep – oil level, pressures, change filters, clean coils etc.
Changes filters on all air conditioners, water systems and other mechanical systems.
Conducts daily boiler upkeep – chemical tests, PH balance and operates boiler chemical addition system.
Replaces and installs windows, doors (i.e., wood, fire rated, impact, etc.) and performs repairs on same.
Assists in electrical trouble-shooting and electrical repair of lighting, outlets and extension cords.
Facility equipment operates 24/365. Department associates must be available at all times.
Associate will be innovative, knowledgeable and intensely committed to ensure that every product and service we supply conforms to FDA and Quality System Regulations as well as ISO 13485/MDD Standards.
Education:
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) with technical or trade school emphasis is preferred.
Certifications/Licensing Depending On Role:

Years and Type of Experience:
- Additional training in carpentry or plumbing program preferred. Four to six (4-6) years of experience using technical skills in a commercial or industrial environment. Equivalent combination of education & experience will be considered.
Key Required Skills, Knowledge and Capabilities:
Must be able to perform but not limited to the following skills: carpentry, plumbing, electrical (assist facilities electrician), plant layout, and painting.
Required to be familiar with and use all hand tools and power tools common to skills listed and well versed in the disciplines mentioned above.
Must be able to read and interpret drawings, OEM instructions and specifications.
Must be a self-starter, work under minimum supervision, take pride in your work, be detailed oriented.
Must be a team player, dependable to carry out instructions and take initiative to work toward continuous improvement.
Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, work from elevated levels and be able to lift 50 pounds.
Must provide own transportation and have valid Delaware driver’s license.
Highly organized to efficiently maintain a multi-tasked environment.
Ability to deal effectively with people at all organization levels and function effectively under pressure.
Computer proficiency preferred with Microsoft office products.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, metric measurement and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, or, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Able to formulate an approach and plan projects.
