Summary
The purpose for this position is to maintain the facility in a safe and clean work environment. Responsible for carrying out work as assigned by the Maintenance Superintendent.
Hours: Hours will vary due to business needs and weather conditions of the facility.
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Complete Preventative Maintenance (PM) and work orders in a timely and accurate fashion
Documenting daily work activities and reporting deficiencies found during the workday
Handling maintenance and construction activities as needed, but not limited to: flooring, painting, plumbing, pm inspections, unload deliveries with forklift and other related duties as required.
Help maintain the facilities grounds including but not limited to; operating a tractor mower, sweeping, trash pickup, weed trimming, and snow conditions.
Maintain cleanliness of entire plant both inside and outside of fence.
Adhere to all safety requirements including PPE and preventing and reporting unsafe acts and conditions.
Minimum Education
High School or equivalent not required but beneficial.
Experience Requirements
Worked a minimum of 6 months of consecutive work history with one employer within the past 3 years.
Experience Preferred
Must be able to operate hand tools in a safe manner including hammers, screwdrivers, ratchets, hoists, etc. Must have own hand tools. (Power and specialized tools shall be available to use by company). Must be detail oriented and proficient with basic math skills to include having the ability to read a tape measure. Must be able to recognize and maintain confidentiality as it pertains to our customers. Must be able to work with minimal supervision and have good organizational skills with the ability to Multitask. Must have the ability to perform all job duties in a safe manner utilizing all necessary Personal Protective Equipment. Valid State of Delaware driver's license and ability to obtain a Perdue Forklift license within one week of being hired. The qualified candidate will have at least six months of service in his/her present position, two or less unexcused absences and zero active disciplinary warnings. Strong reading, math, writing and comprehensive skills are required
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
In stationary positions or moving for 8 hours on a wet, moist, dry and greasy floor which includes metal or plastic grating surfaces with up to four (4) hours in a single interval.
Ability to climb stairs, catwalks, and work from a ladder.
Exposure to and work in temperatures of <0 to >110 degrees Fahrenheit with ambient humidity, noise exposure of >110 db, and light intensity range of <50 to >100 foot candles.
Bending, twisting, lifting, reaching, sitting, and grasping varies in repetitions, distance, degrees, angle, weight, height, longest interval of time, objects grasped, and body positions depends upon the task being perform.
Must be able to lift and control weights up to 50 pounds.
Must be able to bend down and to maintain a kneeling position.
Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions.
Exposures to salt crystals to be used as deicer, and other chemicals found in a poultry processing operation.
Must wear and/or use protective and safety equipment required for the job
