Position Summary

As a Security Officer at Oncor, you’ll provide patrol services or staff fixed posts to serve as a visible crime deterrent. Oncor personnel in this position will be expected to respond to emergencies and provide for the safety of Oncor employees, visitors, and others on site as appropriate. This position is on-site at the Railport Business Park off Hwy 67 in Midlothian, TX.

This is a 24-hour facility and operates in shifts designated below.

1 st (6am-2pm), 2 nd (2pm-10pm), 3 rd (10pm-6am).

Key Responsibilities :

  • Maintains proficiency through initial and subsequent re-training in the use of all assigned protective equipment, restraint devices, less than lethal devices, and weapons.

  • Works in environments and under conditions that require carrying authorized weapons and ammunition, the use of protective gear and devices, and awareness of personal safety and safety of others.

  • Required to utilize rapid and effective judgment in responding to unusual or emergency situations using appropriate de-escalation and conflict resolution techniques while also understanding the appropriate escalation of force level.

  • Provides timely and accurate written reports specific to security, safety or medical incidents and daily activities.

  • Assists first responders, including but not limited to EMS, fire rescue, law enforcement and other public safety entities, during emergency response or security incidents at Oncor.

  • Controls access to Oncor’s location through the admittance process; precludes unauthorized access to facilities, and the conversion, theft, or intentional destruction of physical assets.

  • Observes and reports activities and incidents, providing for the security and safety of property and personnel.

  • Makes periodic tours to check for irregularities and to inspect protection devices and building life safety, maintenance and/or fire control equipment.

  • Preserves order and acts to enforce regulations and directives for the site pertaining to personnel, visitors, and premises.

  • Provides security response and assistance during Building Emergency Response Plan (BERP) activation and during any Business Continuity operation(s).

  • Patrols assigned site on foot or in vehicle, checks for unsafe conditions, hazards, unlocked doors, security violations.

  • Observes and reports incidents or suspicious activity to shift supervisor(s), other Corporate Security representatives or Oncor management, as appropriate.

  • Responds to incidents of fire, medical emergency, bomb threat, flooding, water discharge, elevator emergency, hazardous materials, inclement weather, and other incidents.

  • Knowledgeable of all post orders and the operations of all posts at the location of assignment.

Experience & Skills :

  • Having a valid State of Texas Commissioned Security Officer License is required

  • Advanced skills and professional experience in the areas of people and conflict management with tact and discretion and through the utilization of de-escalation techniques.

  • Ability to function in stressful situations while exercising good judgment.

  • Must be flexible to work varying shift days/hours due to evolving security needs.

  • Demonstrate strong customer service skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with the public while maintaining poise and self-control under stress.

  • Prior advanced training in emergency medicine and prior tactical firearms training a plus but not required.

  • Have completed an FBI pistol qualification course with a passing score of 70% within the last 6 months is highly preferred.

Education & Certifications (must possess one of the following):

  • Minimum 3 years of active-duty military service, having held the rank of E-4 or higher upon Honorable Discharge.

  • Graduate of a certified federal, state, or local law enforcement training academy, military police school or the US Marine Corps’ Marine Security Guard or Security Forces School.

  • Minimum 3 years federal, state, local law enforcement or military police experience.

  • Will consider applicants with Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school of learning and have been employed as an Armed Security Officer within the most recent year OR Associates degree in Criminal Justice from an accredited school and have been employed as an Armed Security Officer within the most recent 2 years.

  • Minimum 3 years of verified Armed Security Officer experience within the most recent 4 years.

Measure of Success :

  • Successful completion of:

  • On-the-job training.

  • Initial and recurring weapons qualifications by independent third-party.

  • Baseline and recurring sustainment situational training by independent third-party.

  • Monthly Quality Assurance Testing by independent third-party.

  • Corporate Security Management oversight via documented Controls Program.
