Description:

Holcim (US) Inc. seeks a Regional Senior Process Engineer in Midlothian, Texas to oversee and support plant discussions and investigations to improve throughput, efficiency, quality, and environmental performance. Through data analysis, field measurements, the individual will conduct process related audit work and conversations with employees, diagnosing issues and developing solutions. Responsible for moving the plant towards greater performance. Key responsibilities include:

● Coordination and participation in improvement of the Plants technical capabilities. Initiate process optimization in collaboration with Quality, Production and Maintenance to ensure maximum and efficient utilization of the plant’s equipment.

● Analyze equipment/system performance (e.g., specific electrical and thermal energy consumption, refractory consumption, Overall Equipment Efficiency), document findings and propose solutions for improvements.

● Develop standard operating procedures and targets. Train and coach operation personnel to apply them consistently.

● Provide technical support to the plant’s production, quality, and environmental functions. Evaluate operations, processes, and trends through audits and systematic approaches (e.g., OEE teams, RCA, TIS, HLC). Monitor the performance and optimize the operation of High-Level Control (HLC) Systems.

● Promote the increased use of Alternative Fuels and Raw Materials (AFR); provide comprehensive technical expertise to evaluate AFR with respect to their impact on the process; develop and implement solutions to eliminate/reduce impact of AFR on the process operation

● Provide technical support on implementation of new equipment and/or new procedures including training of plant personnel as required. Serves as coach / mentor in process and other departments.

● Conduct economic and operational feasibility studies on proposed modifications and/or additions. Commission and de-bottleneck new installations

● Ensure compliance with internal control procedures - communicating problems in operations, unwarranted deviations from established standards, and violations of policy or law.

● Drive Health and Safety according to the regional and plant priorities. Make positive contributions to the plants’ safety activities and initiatives.

This position involves domestic/national travel up to 50% of the time.

REQUIREMENTS: The position of Regional Senior ProcessEngineer requires a bachelor’s degree, or its foreign equivalent, in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related engineering field, plus7 years of progressively-responsible, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered, as a Process Engineer, Automation Engineer, or in a related engineering position with a cement plant.

The position requires the following number of years of professional experience with each of the following:

  • 1) 7 years: Supervising installation of refractory materials, including (a) Lining of refractory in rotary kilns and stationary areas according to applicable safety standards, and (b) using AR (alkali-resistant) refractory concepts as applied to static walls, roofs, calciners, clinker coolers, and cyclones.

  • 2) 5 years: Operating a cement kiln or serving as a cement kiln coach.

  • 3) 3 years: Using refractory management tools, including tracking tools for wear profiles.

  • 4) 3 years: Training cement plant workings, such as Process Engineers, Production Engineers, Refractory Supervisors and Champions.

  • 5) 2 years: Working in a regional refractory champion/oversight capacity for a region of at least 5 cement plants.
