Job Title: Staff Accountant

Location: Midland, MI (No Remote)

Job Type: Temp to Hire

Salary: $55,000 - $65,000 - annually

Position Summary:

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for various accounting functions, including cash and credit card processes, inventory management, sales and use tax, and compliance-related tasks. This role includes account reconciliations, tax return preparation, journal entries, and providing financial support as needed.

Reporting Structure & Company Interfaces:
  • Reports to the Director of Plant Operations
  • Interfaces with associates across various business units and levels of responsibility
  • Communicates with vendors, customers, sales representatives, and tax authorities
Key Performance Measurements:
  • Ensure accurate verification of accounting functions, processes, and financial systems
  • Complete Month-End and Year-End Close within five (5) business days
  • Maintain accurate inventory records
  • Prepare quarterly and annual tax filings and respond to tax inquiries promptly
  • Maintain and improve accounting systems, processes, and functions
Primary Responsibilities:
  1. Maintain balance sheet reconciliations
  2. Assist in financial analysis and budgeting projects
  3. Provide financial reporting and analysis for management as needed
  4. Manage audit-related tasks at the business unit level
  5. Maintain records for capital expenditures, fixed assets, and depreciation schedules
  6. Perform additional accounting duties and financial analysis as assigned
  7. Assist with maintaining standard costs (including Bill of Materials (BOMs), labor, and overhead routing)
  8. Support the preparation of annual standard costs
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in finance and accounting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel)
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines with a flexible schedule
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness to travel as needed
Preferred Qualifications:

? Experience with NetSuite ? Experience with Standard Cost Accounting (BOM, labor, and overhead routing)
