DESCRIPTION OF WORK In this position, you will support data management and organization initiatives within the Rock Sample Library. Your primary duties will take place at the main library facility located in the bureau's Middletown office, with the potential for a few multi-day trips to BGS facilities at Raccoon Creek State Park in Beaver County and/or the Hollywood warehouse in Clearfield County. Your responsibilities will involve entering well information into the core and cuttings database, photographing core samples, documenting photo details in the database, managing the inventory and shelving of newly acquired core, cataloging paper logs, assisting visitors, and, when necessary, sampling core and cuttings. Additionally, you may be required to support other bureau staff with field or office tasks related to their projects.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time internship that will run from 5/1/2025 through 8/29/2025 Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch. QUALIFICATIONS Internship Requirements: Current full-time enrollment in a two-year degree, bachelor's degree or advanced degree program in one of the following majors: Geology Earth Science Environmental Science An approved major course which includes a qualifying 24 credit hours of study in the physical, biological and environmental sciences may be acceptable. Freshman year completed Good academic standing (2.0 GPA or higher) Pennsylvania residency or enrollment at a Pennsylvania college or university

Additional Requirements:

You must possess a valid driver's license which is not under suspension You must be able to perform essential job functions.
