JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

A part-time hourly research coordinator position is available through the Personal Relationships, Interpersonal Stress, and Mindfulness (PRISM) lab at Penn State starting January 3, 2025, initially for one semester with the potential for continued employment based on performance. The position supports management of participants taking part in a longitudinal study of mother-infant stress regulation funded by the National Institute for Child Health and Human Development. This project focuses on maternal psychopathology and mindfulness during the perinatal period as predictors of mother-infant physiological (e.g., HPA axis and inflammatory reactivity) and behavioral responsiveness to interpersonal stress across the first two years postnatal. The study involves a range of methodological approaches, including surveys, behavioral observations during structured mother-infant laboratory tasks, saliva sampling for physiological stress markers, and clinical interviewing.

The Research Coordinator will be trained in research in developmental psychopathology and will gain experience in study implementation, including recruitment, screening, and ongoing communication with participating women/families; overseeing in-person administration of structured infant tasks measuring emotion regulation and executive function; data management; supervision of undergraduate research assistants; general research administration; and assistance with the preparation of research presentations and manuscripts.

Applicants with experience and interest in clinical and/or developmental psychology are particularly encouraged to apply. A bachelor’s degree at the time of employment is preferred, but well qualified applicants who do not have a BA will be considered. The Research Coordinator will need to be willing and able to participate in data collection sessions in Harrisburg, PA at the Parents and Children Together (PACT) Center and to have access to transportation in order to retrieve saliva and/or stool samples from participants’ homes in the broader Harrisburg area.

Interested applicants should attach a vita and letter of interest to their application in WorkDay. Questions can be directed to the PRISM lab Principal Investigator Heidemarie Laurent at heidemarielaurent@psu.edu.
