Job Summary The asphalt laborer will be responsible for working within a crew on various road projects throughout an assigned territory (Cincinnati Metro Area or Dayton Metro Area) and expected to perform the job tasks described below. Main Responsibilities Main Responsibilities Cleaning and preparing the construction site and pavement surfaces. Keep equipment and tools in good working condition. Shovel asphalt and other materials Luting / raking asphalt and aggregates. Set-up and take down temporary work zones efficiently. Optimal traffic control in and around work zones (flagging) crafting a safe environment for traffic and onsite workers. Assist in backing and dumping of tri-axles and milling machines. Handling of hot liquid asphalt and various materials. Remove old asphalt, concrete and other materials using a jackhammer or cut-off saw. Erect and remove delineating devices such as barrels and cones. Seal end joints. Help fill water tanks on equipment as needed. Compact material with small hand rollers and vibratory plates. Perform other tasks as assigned. Skills Valid Driver's License and excellent driving record. Road construction experience. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written). Follow all DOT and company safety regulations. OSHA 10 Hour Certification. Education High School diploma/GED Work Environment Wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE), as required. Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear). Standing/working on feet for long periods, and walking across uneven terrain. Frequent exposure to loud noise.
