Responsibilities The ED Service Associate position encompasses many duties. This person must be able to multi task and prioritize work in a high demand work environment while maintaining a high level of professionalism. The service associate ensures a clean safe attractive environment for patients, employees and visitors to the Emergency Department. The service associate will also be responsible for transporting patients and maintaining medical equipment within the Emergency Department. Garnet Health System provides a compensation range to comply with the New York State law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits. When determining a team member’s compensation and/or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., location, specialty, service line, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, negotiated contracts, budget and internal equity). Qualifications Ability to read and comprehend infection practices and hazardous chemical warnings. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Must have basic computer literacy skills. Minimum Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Ability to read and write English and understand oral instructions Minimum Experience: One year experience in a medical office or professional environment with high volume. Demonstrated skills in organization and prioritization. Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills, telephone etiquette, and computer literacy. Basic knowledge of data base systems to run and enter information into disinfection programs. Required Certification/Registration: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Preventing and Managing Crisis Situations (PMCS/Code Gray Training) to be completed within three (3) months of hire and annually thereafter. Physical Requirements: Extensive standing and walking. Other physical movements required such as climbing, bending, and lifting. Must be able to lift weights up to 40 lbs. most of the day. Working Conditions: Environmental Demands and Exposure to Hazards: Works in a clean, well- lighted, heated or ventilated facility. Works indoors, with considerable public contacts. Frequent patient contact. Often exposed to odors and infectious waste. Frequent exposure to water and detergents. Some exposure to disagreeable elements. Work area is centrally located with many various activities taking place, creating distractions to the worker. Physical Demands: Demonstrates physical and functional ability to perform full anatomical range of motion to accomplish tasks. Evidence of visual and aural acuity and finger and hand dexterity to operate computer and office equipment. Can withstand long periods of sitting, standing and/or constant walking. Ability to lift 40 lbs. Mental Demands: Ability to foster collaborative relationships, to work well under pressure, to organize and synthesize new information, and prioritize tasks. Possesses critical thinking, analytical skills and flexibility. Ability to multi-task. Required detailed attention to work in an environment where interruptions cannot be controlled. Demonstrates sensitivity to customer needs and expectations. May be subject to irregular hours including evenings or potentially weekends to participate in operational and community events as necessary.
