This Principal Member of Technical Staff position requires deep technical knowledge and subject matter expertise on AT&T 5G, FirstNet, Cell-site, Radio, and Fiber Broadband technologies to drive rapid automation/cost savings and accelerate security vulnerability resolutions with new AI/Autonomous technology. The position requires deep domain knowledge of AI/Control loop processes and commercially available tools to address complex business and technical problems along with extensive experience in AT&T’s CI/CD standards and processes. In addition to typical PMTS skills such as programming languages (Unix Shell, Java, Perl, etc.) and Unix systems internal architecture, the position requires expert level knowledge and experience with AI, automation technologies, and emerging technology for Rules and Policy based automation transformation, control loop automation, energy savings automation, traffic offload automation, cell-site resets automation. This position’s extensive domain knowledge will drive several AT&T organizations towards consistent, standardized automation framework and automated procedures across many projects to reduce delivery interval.
Provide technical innovation and thought leadership that drives integration of five initiatives using new AI and automation technology with this position creating innovative architecture and design solutions for continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD). Use extensive domain knowledge to create automation services and lead proof-of-concept trials that will drive several AT&T organizations towards consistent, standardized automation framework and procedures across five 5G, FirstNet and Fiber Broadband transformation programs (Rules and Policy based automation transformation, control loop automation, energy savings automation, traffic offload automation, cell-site resets automation) The business value of this position’s deliverables is for engineers to use the new automation architecture solutions and new services to simplify software design across the five initiatives and reduce delivery interval
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Conducts design and development work in the areas of new products/technologies, systems/platform architecture, hardware/software development engineering, technical security and QA Design/Certification
Work must primarily involve new and emerging technologies and technical architectures on projects with a status between inception and implementation/software maturity
May serve as subject matter expert during the continuous integration/continuous deployment cycle in a production environment focused on complex design, engineering and development
Required Experience:
- 8- 10 years' experience. Technical Career Pathway (TCP) role.
Required Qualifications:
- 6 – 8 years' experience with Java, Azure, MySQL, Kafka, IEBUS, Kubernetes, AI/ML, Agile Methodologies, JIRA, ServiceNow, Snowflake, Drools
Required Education:
- PhD in an approved field from an approved university with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience or Masters in an approved field from an approved university with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience or a Bachelors in an approved field from an approved university with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
Environmental Requirements:
- This position may be responsible for contributing to AT&T compliance with environmental laws and regulations as applicable to its job function. This may include, but is not limited to, work related to fuel tanks, emergency and stand-by generators, boilers, hazardous waste, hazardous materials, batteries, manholes and vaults, water wells, linear and other construction projects, water discharge, or air emissions.
Our Principal Member of Technical Staff earn between $180,200 - $270,400 annually. Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
