SUMMARY OF THE JOB:

Reporting to the Risk and Control Strategic Advisor, the incumbent is responsible for partnering with all areas of Liberty Bank to identify, assess, monitor and anticipate risks that the Bank and its customers face every day; including but not limited to: credit risk, operational risk, reputation risk, and compliance risk.

As the company’s second line of defense, Operational Risk Management provides independent oversight of risk-taking activities. This oversight includes independent and facilitated assessments of the first line of defense risk management responsibilities. Risk is managed according to Liberty’s Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Framework and ensures that this oversight drives and includes continuous improvement, lessons learned, strategic vision and effective risk and control execution.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Represent Operational Risk Management on Enterprise Project Management Office led projects and Bank-wide strategic initiatives.

  • Execute a risk assessment framework for new products, services and/or processes; a program designed to identify, assess, monitor, measure and report risks on a consistent basis across all business lines in the bank.

  • Provide operational governance support to the business lines in order to support ERM Program maturation. The ability to de-engineer/re-engineer processes to efficient and effective solutions.

  • Provide process governance and advisory services by partnering with the business line with regards to ideation and lifecycle management of identified risks.

  • Assist in risk management governance by assessing cross functional risk implications, connecting business processes, implementing best practices for mitigating and controlling risks and contributing to the directional risk management strategy of the Bank.

  • Support the identification and discussion of potential threats and emerging risks that could negatively impact the company’s strategic objectives or lead to unintended losses that are not within the Bank’s risk appetite.

  • Ensure identified corrective action plans are monitored to properly address issues or concerns in a timely manner and reduce the Bank’s risk profile to be within desired risk appetite levels.

  • Through the risk assessment process, facilitate in the identification and evaluation of business risks, internal controls which mitigate risks, and related opportunities for internal control improvement.

  • Strong project management skills that include applying change management, influencing, and communication skills.

  • Assist on ad-hoc control related requests and projects, as needed.

    SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:

  • Ability to influence and effectively communicate with all levels of management and have strong presentation/facilitation skills.

  • Must have strong analytical skills with data and process visualization abilities.

  • Establish credibility with key stakeholders.

  • Communicate with line management when systems or process deficiencies are identified. Make recommendations when necessary to management for changes to current policies, procedures and controls.

  • Read related publications and attend job related training. Maintain a current knowledge of ERM best practices.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Detailed oriented, strong organization skills, ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment, ability to work independently yet easily work in a team environment.

  • Developed analytical, critical thinking, and problem solving skills.

  • Ability to lead through influence.

  • Flexibility and ability to work under strict deadlines.

  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office products.

  • Ability to manage complex projects with diverse stakeholder groups.

  • Excellent judgment and independent decision making ability.

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Familiarity with banking operations as well as COSO framework.

  • Cross functional business team environment experience with an ability to foster working relationships across these departments.

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred and 7+ years banking experience, with operational knowledge. This includes working with cross functional business teams and facilitating projects.

  • Knowledge of RCSA (Risk and Control Self Assessments), risk identification, control evaluation and creating documentation to support business functions.

    ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Promptly and courteously responds to internal and external inquiries and resolves problems by researching and accessing on-line records.

  • Maintains customer confidentiality at all times by adhering to privacy regulations.

  • Adheres to applicable federal and state regulations and Bank policies and procedures, including OFAC, BSA, PATRIOT Act, Privacy, and consumer protection regulations pertaining to incumbent's business line. Completes required training (on-line and in-person) by set due dates.
