Fedcap Health and Safety Coordinator in Middlesbrough, United Kingdom

The Role:

The role of the Health and Safety Coordinator is to assist the Health & Safety Manager in the management of occupational health and safety across the Groups facilities.

Location: Middlesbrough

Shifts- We are considering either part-time or full-time for this role. Please specifiy on your application which is your preference.

Salary £27,000 (pro-rata)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Health and Safety Manager in the day-to-day running of the Health & Safety management system, policies and procedures within the Group of Companies including Safeguarding, Business Continuity.

  • Assist with day to day administration activities and enquires, working flexibly in response to changing operational demands to support customer focused delivery.

  • Provide H&S assistance and guidance on projects as required.

  • Provide regular updates of pending actions, completed projects and/or innovations in relation to Health and Safety to the Health and Safety Manager.

  • To perform tasks related to the Health & Safety management system, such as risk assessments, audits, assessments and DSE assessments.

  • Assist the Health and Safety Manager in the development of new processes, updating existing processes, analysing, collection and reporting of KPI data.

  • Coordinate training sessions with employees within the company as required.

  • Ensure that any observed Health & Safety issues are dealt with in line with company policy and with legal requirements.

  • Assist with reviewing and investigating accidents and near misses that are reported.

  • Report any action or process which is non-compliant with legislative or company Health & Safety requirements to the Health & Safety Manager immediately.

  • Assist in maintaining records of Health & Safety documentation in line with company document retention policy.

  • Participate in H&S meetings and prepare minutes as requested.

  • Undertake any ad-hoc projects as requested and any other associated tasks that are deemed reasonable within the Health & Safety and Safeguarding department.

Person Specification:

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Good organisational skills with the ability to complete tasks within given deadlines

  • Initiative

  • Experience of maintaining systems to a high standard

  • High level of work accuracy/attention to detail

  • Experience of contract compliance

  • Competent IT skills (Experience in using Microsoft packages, especially Excel, Outlook and Word and modern digital technologies).

  • Act with integrity, always maintaining confidentiality

  • Ability to create procedures and guidance documents

    Desirable skills

  • Experience of working in a role with a H&S responsibility

  • Ability to apply proactive methods to Health & Safety

  • Safeguarding experience

  • Practical experience of risk assessment and auditing
