Product development manager responsible for directing the design and development of products and processes for the Cardiovascular and Endovascular markets. Defines and ensures implementation of one or multiple new product development and/or change projects or programs. Monitors smooth execution of plans and programs cross-functionally. Ensures proper allocation of resources to achieve project/program goals within established timelines and budgets. Responsible for ensuring high levels of technical excellence associated with assigned tasks, projects and work output of direct reports. Responsible for collaborating with cross functional partners to deliver program(s). Accountable to the Project Investment Board for overall program(s) progress. May serve as the Core Project Leader on large-scope programs.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and ensures implementation of one or multiple new product development and/or change projects and/or programs for the business unit. Monitors smooth execution of projects and programs at lower levels and cross-functionally. Allocates proper level of resources to facilitate attainment of project goals within established timelines and budgets

  • Develop strategies to optimize all phases of the product development cycle to ensure design quality, compliance to regulatory / industry standards, and customer satisfaction. Makes recommendations to streamline and to increase robustness of the new product development process. Ensures adherence to design control guidelines and intellectual property coverage

  • Collaborates closely with marketing and new business development to identify market needs and set portfolio direction for the business unit. Participates and provides input in the evaluation of new technologies. Works directly with physicians to obtain product feedback and to investigate current and future needs. Ensures that customer feedback is applied to the design of new products

  • Oversees technical execution of projects. Reviews and approves technical documentation to verify compliance to technical specifications and standards. Provides technical advice when required. Facilitates resolution of complex technical and operational problems. Promotes innovation initiatives for new products and ideas

  • Ensures that all assigned tasks and projects, and work output of direct reports, exhibit technical excellence

  • Interact with Regulatory Agencies to support product filings

  • Keeps current on existing/emerging technologies and developments that affect the Company

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws

  • Attract, retain and develop talent of the highest caliber

  • Serve as coach and mentor to all assigned direct reports

  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems

  • Responsible for ensuring that subordinates follow all company guidelines and policies

Position Authority

  • Employee Hire and Termination Authority - Employee hiring requires second level approval. Employee terminations require Human Resources concurrence and sign-off

  • Resource Allocation Authority – All management levels have the authority for the allocation of direct reports and secondary reporting relation

  • Financial Authority – All management level positions have signature authority for spending in accordance with Cordis Franchise Signature Approval Limits policy. For detailed information, please refer to policy. Manage assign budget based on establish company policies and guidelines

Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering

  • At least 8 years of engineering experience, with 3+ years supervising or leading teams and a successful track record of attracting, retaining and developing talent

  • Prior experience as a product development engineer on a cross-functional core team, supporting new product development from concept to commercial launch

  • Six Sigma Certification, MS or PhD Engineering, MBA, PMP and medical device experience a plus
