The University of Miami/UHealth Department of SCCC has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Sr. Grant Administrator, Sylvester Intramural Funding Program (Hybrid/Remote) to work at UHealth Medical Campus in Miami, FL 33146.

CORE JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Grant Administrator oversees the pre- and post-award grant process for assigned division(s) and establishes standards and deadlines for proposals, reviews proposals for completeness, and ensures compliance with organizational or foundation standards. Furthermore, the Senior Grant Administrator maintains accurate and updated records of funding sources and grant applicants.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

Mentors, supervises, and trains junior grant administration staff to further talent development. Approves and processes all purchase requisitions and vouchers for supplies, equipment, personnel, services, and reimbursements. Reviews expenditures and encumbrances and identifies and independently resolves any discrepancies, working with other departments to identify key issues and develop solutions or action plans. Works to closeout research funds and resolves fund deficits and under-expenditures. Assists in the departmental faculty salary budget process by managing and administering the allocation of research personnel funds. Participates in the development and enhancement of systems to improve functionality for administrative staff and investigators. Interprets sponsors and institutional guidelines. Prepares regular and complex special reports, financial statements, forms or studies for sponsors and researchers. Tracks grant applications and awards and follows up with funding agencies. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in relevant field

Experience:

Minimum 4 years of relevant experience. Prior proposal preparation or grantmaking experience required. Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered.

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:

  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting procedures and principles.

  • Knowledge of budget control methods, policies, and procedures.

  • Ability to prepare financial and accounting records.

  • Ability to analyze, consolidate, and interpret accounting data.

  • Ability to compile, organize, interpret, and communicate accounting data and results concisely.

  • Ability to manage a budget and work within the constraints of that budget.

DEPARTMENT SPECIFICS

The Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center (SCCC) has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Sr. Grant Administrator to work at the Medical Campus. The Sr. Grant Administrator works independently to manage the Sylvester Intramural Funding Program. The principal objective of the program is to increase the success of proposals for external funding by supporting the collection of preliminary data and work that will contribute to the strength and competitiveness of submitted proposals. This individual will be expected to initiate activities according to the needs of the program and use good judgment in answering questions and mitigate problems.

  • Oversees the planning, development, implementation, and tracking of the Sylvester Intramural Funding Program.

  • Works with leadership to develop funding opportunities, establish competition timelines, communicates opportunities to relevant SCCC audiences, reviews applications against program requirements, coordinates review committees, generates award documents, tracks progress reports and manages post-award financial matters.

  • Maintains funding opportunity announcement, notice of award, progress report and other templates used by the program.

  • Manages multiple funding opportunities, establishing and documenting plans and timelines.

  • Make recommendations to redesign the process and workflow of the administrative functions of the awards programs.

  • Manages program meetings, agendas and action items.

  • Tracks award metrics and ROIs on all projects and is able to report on them.

  • Ability to identify needs of the program.

  • Prepares reports for external and internal constituents.

  • Assists leadership with program development.

  • Conducts project costs analysis and costs benefits analysis with recommendations for program continuance, modification or termination.

  • Works to develop report schedules, data repository and data tracking methods to support decision making operational excellence in all areas of administration.

  • Responsible for reviewing and providing reports to Executive Director for decision making.

  • Other duties as assigned.
