The Department of Medicine, Division of Hepatology has an exciting opportunity for a Full-Time Research Assistant. The Research Assistant will work within and support the Dr. David Goldberg Research Lab but will be responsible for working with Investigators in other divisions on collaborative sponsored research studies. Hours may fluctuate depending on clinic and procedure days; therefore, candidate must be flexible in hours.

  • Assists in the maintenance and preparation of clinical research participant binders according to study specific protocols, UM and department policies.

  • Helps obtain and transport patient specimens (blood, stool, biopsies, urine, saliva) to be stored and shipped to the central research laboratory.

  • Assists in ordering and maintaining stock of necessary supplies.

  • Assists in kit preparation for study visits per protocol. To include obtaining necessary supplies and printing study labels.

  • Assists in reminder calls and placing study orders in EMR for study participants per protocol.

  • Assists in preparing and sending study samples to labs that require same day shipping per protocol.

  • Support multiple liver disease and gastroenterology research studies by performing a variety of duties.

  • Assists in redacting medical records.

  • Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the PI.

Minimum Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent

One year of relevant experience.

Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes :

Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.

Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.

Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.

Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
