Actalent Environmental Field Technician in Miami, Florida

Job Title: Environmental Field TechnicianJob Description

We are seeking a full-time Environmental Field Technician in Miami. As an Environmental Field Technician, you will work closely with scientists and engineers on various land redevelopment, electric utility, remediation, chemical/petroleum spill, and municipal solid waste landfill projects. You will follow regulatory requirements, standard operating procedures, and company protocols, exercising independent judgment to complete tasks and projects with minimal direction from management.

Responsibilities

  • Operation and maintenance of groundwater remediation systems

  • Well installation oversight

  • Groundwater sampling

  • Surface water sampling

  • Soil sampling (stockpile and soil blending)

  • Air/vapor monitoring

  • Preparation of field notes

  • Surveying

Essential Skills

  • Experience with environmental remediation field work, including operation and maintenance of remediation systems

  • Mechanical aptitude with experience troubleshooting machine parts and basic electrical work

  • Willingness to work in outdoor elements full time

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel

  • Ability to perform fieldwork, including lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for long periods

  • Valid driver's license with a driving record in good standing

  • Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and solid judgment

  • Completion of (or willingness to complete) 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) training

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in water or wastewater treatment operations

Work Environment

You will work in outdoor conditions, receiving assignments from Project Managers and reporting administratively to an assigned supervisor. You may work independently or with other staff to complete tasks. You will pick up equipment from the office, drive to your assigned site, and work independently. The job involves carrying equipment (such as a 25lb cooler, samples, shovel, hand auger) across large sites, requiring substantial walking. A company or rental vehicle will be provided.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $30.00
