NBC Universal is looking for a talented individual to become a Production Support Engineer in the Production Engineering group for NBCU Operations and Technology (O&T), based out of the Telemundo Center facility located in Miami, FL. O&T supports Enterprise Technology, Broadcast and Production systems across NBCU globally.
The Production Engineer is responsible for providing best-in-class live television production support for NBCU, supporting live and scripted/unscripted productions. This position will also support the projects team, where and as required, to implement changes, enhancements, and system upgrades.
Responsibilities
Provide technical support and support maintenance of a broadcast production environment consisting of multiple studios and production control rooms.
Resolve support requests, monitor ticketing systems for new issues and assigned tasks, and perform preventative maintenance as assigned.
Collaborate with other members of the engineering and technical teams in executing projects, including working with internal stakeholders to create and update configuration documentation, technical SOP’s, training materials, etc.
Support virtualization and cloud initiatives, continuing deployment of virtual production systems both on-premise and in the cloud.
Maintain production systems by measuring and monitoring availability system health.
Basic Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Broadcasting, or related fields, or equivalent work experience.
3+ years recent experience supporting television production, streaming, or master control environments.
Experience supporting and deploying equipment in a production environment, including video router, production switchers, audio consoles, graphics and video playback systems, studio cameras, video & streaming encoders, and wireless audio systems.
Strong customer service skills and professionalism.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Must be willing to work evenings, overnights, weekends, holidays with little or/no notice depending on production schedules.
Desired Characteristics:
Ability to provide clear, decisive feedback while being prepared to pivot or change course when appropriate.
Experience with programming, in one of these languages a plus: Python, Bash, PowerShell, etc.
Experience with systems monitoring tools such as Datadog, Op5, New Relic, etc.
Demonstrate a dedication to building and maintaining a stable, high-performance technical environment.
Additional Requirements:
- On-site: This position has been designated as on-site, contributing from the office five days per week.
