Now hiring an Employment Specialist at MIAMI NORTH COMMUNITY RELEASE CENTER
Position Summary:
Reports to the substance use disorder (SUD) counselor. Responsible for the delivery of employment reentry skills and job placement, retention, advancement curriculum to inmates in compliance with American Correctional Association (ACA) standards, Management & Training Corporation (MTC) and Florida Department of Corrections (FDOC) directives.
Essential Functions:
1.. Determine skills levels, technical trades knowledge, and other background information for each inmate to assist in the development of return to work program.
Assists inmates with resume development, interviewing skills and techniques, and appropriate dress attire for interviews.
Monitors inmate behavior and reports incidents, inappropriate or unusual behaviors to appropriate treatment team staff; notifies appropriate personnel of inmates failing to comply with policies and procedures.
Maintains inmate and other records regarding services provided to include workload statistics; compiles data and submits reports and related documentation as appropriate.
Coordinates with outside employers and employment organizations for inmate employment opportunities; schedules interviews for inmates when needed.
Responsible for assisting in job search and placement for inmates by providing employment search schedules with employers within the community in compliance with contractual requirements.
It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.
Education and Experience Requirements:
A minimum of 1) a bachelor's degree or, 2) an associate degree and two (2) years of full-time related work experience, or 3) high school diploma/GED and four (4) years of full-time related work experience. Experience must be in one (1) of the following areas: personnel/human resources, marketing, human services, social work, advertising, or other related fields. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and computer proficiency are required. A valid driver's license in the state of Florida with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
