The department of Medicine has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Director, Research Support to work on the UHealth campus. The Director, Research Support oversees research and grant activities within the department with the goals of maintaining financial solvency and academic growth. Moreover, an employee in this position serves as a mentor to department management and staff on issues of research funding.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Develops reports summarizing research activity within the department on a regular basis.
Maintains current knowledge of institutional and external policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
Serves as liaison to federal agencies and other funding sources.
Creates reports detailing grant spending and ensures that investigators are appropriately using funding.
Oversees research initiatives and database personnel.
Monitors projects to ensure positive project evaluations, future sustainability, and benefits.
Reviews monthly institutional reports of research accounts and works with investigators to resolve discrepancies.
Screens department budget, assists in the assignment of expenditures, and identifies areas of opportunity for cost-saving.
Participates in various University research councils, committees, and research organizations.
Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:
Knowledge of business and management principles.
Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations.
Ability to establish department goals, and objectives that support the strategic plan.
Ability to effectively plan, delegate and/or supervise the work of others.
Ability to lead, motivate, develop, and train others.
