Job Title: Diesel Mechanic

Job Description

The Diesel Mechanic or Technician will be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing temperature control systems for trucks, trailers, buses, marine containers, and rail cars. The Technician or mechanic may also complete new installs on these refrigeration units or transport temperature control systems. This includes working with new and used auxiliary power units (APUs), vehicle-powered (VP) units, self-powered (SP) trucks, and trailer refrigeration units. Most of the issues will be refrigeration-related, including but not limited to condensers leaking, hoses, repairing valves, and coils. Diesel engine experience is preferred as minor repairs on engines, including engine wiring and small rebuilds, will also be required. Electrical and mechanical experience is necessary as trailer units have their own diesel engines. Electrical knowledge and experience are crucial due to modern build standards.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair temperature control systems for trucks, trailers, buses, marine containers, and rail cars.

• Complete new installs on refrigeration units and transport temperature control systems.

• Work with auxiliary power units (APUs), vehicle-powered (VP) units, self-powered (SP) trucks, and trailer refrigeration units.

• Repair refrigeration-related issues such as leaking condensers, hoses, valves, and coils.

• Perform minor repairs on diesel engines, including engine wiring and small rebuilds.

• Apply electrical and mechanical knowledge to repair trailer units with diesel engines.

Essential Skills

• 2-3+ years of experience as a Diesel Technician or Mechanic.

• 2-3+ years of HVAC or refrigeration experience.

• Electrical knowledge.

• Mechanical skills.

• Wiring expertise.

• Trailer repair experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• APU (Auxiliary Power Unit) experience is preferred.

• Transport refrigeration experience is a plus.

• Experience with Genset (Generator Set), Reefer, Thermo King, or Carrier.

• Clean MVR (Motor Vehicle Record).

• Valid driver's license.

Work Environment

The work environment includes a clean open bay shop where you will work on units solo. The hours are Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with the potential for weekend work as needed.

This is a Contract position based out of MIAMI, Florida.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00
