Shift: Per Diem (PU) 10 hrs. per wk.) Days, evenings flexible shift (depending on availability)
occasional on-call and weekends may be required.
Work Location: UM Hospital UTower - Radiology Imaging Services
The CAT Scan Technologist (U) obtains patient history, explains standard procedures, and addresses patient concerns. The incumbent also produces computerized tomographic scanner images of specific areas, as required by section protocols. Additionally, an employee in this position performs research images, and always adhere to radiation safety standards.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Verifies patients’ ID by checking their name and date of birth.
Conducts patient interviews to describe level of discomfort or pain prior to, during, and after the exam.
Obtains necessary consent from patients before conducting procedures.
Maintains and cleans all equipment in accordance with decontamination procedures.
Supervises and performs imaging procedures under the direction of a radiologist using age-appropriate standards of practice.
Performs venipunctures, contrast administration, and other relevant procedures in a safe manner.
Notifies appropriate person of any change(s) in patients’ status.
Assists the radiologist throughout procedures, with all the necessary supplies.
Follows safety, security, and infection control standards.
Participates in quality improvement activities to ensure continuous improvement of services provided.
Prepares automatic injector with proper contrast, adjusting all settings and parameters according to procedure requirements and radiologist preference.
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONSEducation:Minimum Associate degree in Radiology, Bachelors recommended.
Certification and Licensing:State CRT license, ARRT- RT, CT certification or meet qualifications to obtain ARRT CT board.
Experience:Minimum 1 year of relevant experience
