Job Responsibilities:
Serve as the weekend Meteorologist for our evening newscasts.
Report, shoot, write, and edit weather and news stories three days a week across multiple platforms.
Fill in for other Meteorologists during the week when needed.
Produce and deliver accurate and engaging weather reports for all platforms, including on-air, online, and social media.
Ensure weather content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality.
Respond to breaking weather events and urgent newsroom situations, providing critical coverage.
Write daily web stories with detailed local forecasts and engage with our audience on social media.
Collaborate with the weather team to create comprehensive, viewer-focused weather coverage.
Participate in promotional activities, including public appearances.
Work as an MMJ, producing compelling news stories three days a week.
Shoot, write, and edit stories from start to finish and post content to the web and social platforms.
Requirements & Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Meteorology, Broadcast Journalism, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Entry-level to 2 years of experience in weather presentation and reporting preferred.
Strong forecasting skills and understanding of Meteorology, with a proven ability to deliver accurate, engaging weather coverage.
Proficiency in WSI and ENPS is a plus.
Excellent storytelling, writing, and editing skills, with experience in non-linear editing.
Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage multiple tasks effectively.
Strong social media and digital presentation skills.
Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
Flexibility to work various shifts as needed, including morning, days, evening, holidays, and hurricane coverage.
