Responsibilities

Provides oversight of the activities on a nursing unit during a specific shift, including serving as a resource to staff, directing patient flow, assuring appropriate utilization of resources and providing oversight for the provisions of quality care in a manner satisfying to patients.

  • Mentors others in areas such as competency, documentation, equipment use, plan of care, National Patient Safety Goals (NPSG), and participation in inservice education.

  • Provides direct patient care as appropriate to meet the needs of the patients and department.

  • Evaluates care given by staff.

  • Coaches staff to improve care.

  • Ensures standard of care is maintained.

  • Exhibits a general understanding of the process for dealing with ethical dilemmas and understands and coordinates the process for obtaining an Ethics Consult.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Two years ED RN experience and at least one year of Charge experience

  • ADN; BSN preferred

  • Must hold and maintain AZ or compact state RN license (RN), American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (CT ACLS), American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (CT CPRBLS), and American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (CT PALS)

Pay Range

$42.85 - $63.77 /hour
