JOB SUMMARY
The RN Charge Nurse will demonstrate competency in the role of clinical charge nurse with responsibilities for delegation of assignments for patient care, communication with physicians, and problem solving/decision making. Supervises RN's, LPN's, PCT's and Unit Secretaries. Works in conjunction with Dietary, EVS, and other ancillalry departments.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Demonstrates Competency in the Following Areas:
Education/Regulatory Requirements:
Current MS state nursing license.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate.
Current ACLS certification OR obtain within six months of hire.
One - three years work experience in department-specific area.
Skills:
Precepts other charge nurses to the position as needed.
National certification in the area of specialty is encouraged.
Senior charge nurse may be requested to act as head nurse in the absence of head nurse.
