Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Phlebotomist I to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, decontaminating equipment, and updating patient information. You will collect and store specimens according to established procedures and ensure all processes are carried out with clarity and courtesy.
Responsibilities
Perform blood draws using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
Label specimens and centrifuge, split, and freeze them as required by test orders.
Explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collection methods to patients clearly and courteously.
Ensure all physicians' orders are fully understood and matched correctly with laboratory requisition forms.
Package specimens for transport and store them at the required temperature.
Maintain accurate records and update patient information as necessary.
Assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment (as required in some states)
Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting
High School Diploma or GED
0-2 years of experience
Work Environment
You will work in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting, performing venipunctures and managing specimens. The role requires adherence to established procedures for specimen collection, storage, and transport. The work environment is dynamic and requires a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
