ISP Financial Specialist

The Idaho State Police (ISP) has a current opening for a Financial Specialist - Grants in Meridian. This position will perform various professional financial duties requiring the application of accounting principles and practices.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

Responsibilities:

· Grant financial reporting and monitoring

· Prepare billings and documentation for federal, state or local funding

· Partnering with budget managers to monitor projects funded by federal revenue

· Manage accounts and collections for contractual agreements

· Monitor expenditures to confirm that practices and procedures have been followed and for compliance with state laws and regulations

· Account reconciliations

· Create and process general ledger journal entries

· Monitor cash balances of federal fund and perform cash draws.

· Prepare, analyze, and/or audit financial records and documents, accounting systems, financial statements, and other related documents

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

· Good knowledge of accounting principles and practices

· Experience monitoring grant expenditures for compliance and compiling status reports

· Experience with project accounting and preparing billing for reimbursable expenses

· Knowledge or experience using Microsoft Excel to develop, analyze, and report on financial data

· Experience with explaining financial concepts to groups or individuals who are unfamiliar with accounting principals

· Experience with preparing information and presenting it to a group or individuals

· Experience reviewing accounts payable, accounts receivable, revenue reporting, and ensuring corrective action is taken

· Excellent customer service and professionalism

· Ability to learn quickly, take direction, work as part of a team, ask questions, and problem-solve

· Organizational skills and accountability to meet deadlines

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· Experience using Microsoft Excel, or other software to perform complex financial functions

· Experience developing and preparing financial reports, performing expenditure analysis, and performing reconciliations

· Experience using LUMA and other financial software
