The materials and process engineer is involved with or responsible for a broad range of aspects related the manufacturing of the division's products. Development and support of production processes for diffusion bonding, brazing, and welding Subject matter expert for bonding, welding, brazing, heat treatment, materials and other special processes Support process troubleshooting, failure analyses, improvements and cost reduction initiative Training and qualification of personnel for welding, brazing, heat treating and other special processes Support design and rework functions (MRB) for materials selection, manufacturing processing sequences and non-conformances Author specifications, conduct test-data analysis and issue engineering technical reports, white papers and position statements Design and manufacturing of tooling and fixtures Support procurement, manufacturing operations, suppliers and other business functions for materials and joining related matters Characterize materials, joints and processes, utilizing the materials characterization laboratory and external testing laboratories Perform and support materials control laboratory operations such as photo documentation, optical metallography, and electron microscopy Expand level of professional and technical knowledge by reviewing trade publications, attending conferences, seminars and participating in professional associations Follow and support facility safety requirements and improvements Additional job duties as required by management Qualifications Bachelor's degree (BS) in engineering, Master of Science (MS) preferred Preferred is a degree in welding engineering, materials engineering or mechanical engineering Ability to perform the essential functions of the job, typically acquired by 10 or more years of relevant experience - Detailed understanding of metal joining processes and additive manufacturing - Working understanding of physical metallurgy of alloy systems, such as aluminum alloys, stainless steels, nickel superalloys, refractory metals and titanium - Knowledgeable on brazing processes and heat treatment, especially vacuum brazing and heat treatment - Knowledgeable on applicable codes and specifications, such as AMS, AWS, ASTM, ISO and ASME - Familiar with mechanical testing and mechanical behavior of materials, particularly fatigue behavior - Knowledge on manufacturing operations such as casting, forging, bar stock production, machining, forming, plating and coating - Familiar with quality systems such as AS9100, ISO 9001 and NADCAP - Experience with design and manufacturing of tooling and fixtures - Ability to work hands on with processes and interact across all levels and functions of the organization, including top management Parker is an Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action Employer.
