Position Summary The Infection Prevention Technology (IPT) business develops sterilizers used in hospitals throughout the world. This highly complex equipment ensures physicians can safely perform surgeries everyday. Join a highly collaborative team that impacts the research and development of this critical equipment. The Senior Designer is responsible for design, detail drafting, documentation and presentation. You will develop components design specifications and assist in resolving design problems in support of new product development and sustaining engineering. What You'll do as a Senior Designer: * Reliably produces high-quality designs and documentation that are right the first time. Completes testing reports. * Develop complex product designs and associated engineering documentation with limited guidance from engineers of lead designers in Windchill PLM. * Solves problems independently utilizing problem-solving techniques, referencing historical designs, standards, and other resources. * Effectively utilizes design tools (e.g. CREO, AutoCAD, Adobe, Word) within STERIS Product Lifecycle Management systems to control designs and their phases. * Provides accurate effort estimates and executes design efforts on-time. * Plans, develops and executes engineering and verification test protocols using good lab practices and good documentation practices. * Leads communication with vendors, sourcing, manufacturing, service, and other functions to realize designs. * Facilitate design release * Initiates ECNs to implement simple to moderately complex design changes, following the corporate change process, while works with appropriate subject matter owners. The Required Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed: * Associate's Degree in Design/Drafting and 7+ years of progressive experience in Mechanical Design * Technical Associates degree, drafting certification, vocational training preferred. * Expert in product lifecycle management through release and change management documentation. * Experienced designing in multiple manufacturing methods within the technical function (machining, injection molding, cable harnesses, PCBAs, etc.) * Proficiency with advanced functions of technical software design packages (CREO, AutoCAD, Altium). * Proficient in advanced/complex technical design documentation (drafting, schematics, layouts, symbols) * Hand-on aptitude within the technical area of expertise (oscilloscopes, calipers, hand tools, multimeters). * Effective written and verbal communication. * Proficient in Microsoft products; Excel, Word, Project, and Power Point.
