About this position:
Do you have a passion for safety and a vision for leveraging technology to revolutionize EHS in the age of Industry 4.0. We're seeking a dynamic and experienced EHS leader to join our Materials Group North America (MG-NA) business to lead the future of safety. This is a high-impact role with the opportunity to shape the future of EHS across our region. This role is a key member of the Operations Leadership Team, reporting directly to the VP Operations & Supply Chain, with a strong connection to the Global EHS Director, and is a key representative on the Global EHS Leadership Team. This regional role is responsible for implementation of the global EHS strategy within North America, in partnership with key operations stakeholders.
Responsibilities include:
Manage regional comprehensive Health and Safety programs to ensure adherence with local, state, & Federal regulations, and best practices including but not limited to Hazard Communication, Industrial Hygiene, Employee Safety, Confined Space, and Ergonomics.
Champion EHS Excellence: Support the development of corporate strategies, standards, programs and processes that drive standardization and consistency. Lead the development and execution of regional EHS strategies that align with global objectives and business group goals. Accountable to delivering results and measuring success.
Drive a Culture of Safety: Foster a proactive safety culture through innovative programs, employee engagement, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Embrace Industry 4.0: Spearhead the integration of cutting-edge technologies (IoT, AI, data analytics) to enhance risk assessment, hazard identification, and EHS performance.
Mentor and Develop: Build a high-performing EHS team by recruiting, coaching, mentoring, and fostering talent within the region. Serve as a sounding board and consultant before actions are aligned.
Be a Trusted Advisor: Provide expert guidance and support to plant leadership teams, ensuring compliance with regulations and company standards. They will also be a business partner and advisor to the regional Operations and supply chain teams able to strategically articulate and create a vision for
Investigate and Analyze: Conduct thorough incident investigations, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Ensure incident notifications and communication escalations are followed. Proactively assess risks, emerging challenges, and changing business conditions.
Conduct regular assessments and program reviews (e.g. IH, ergonomics, etc.) to verify compliance and effectiveness of controls with health and safety regulations, EHS management system elements, and recommends appropriate improvement actions.
Collaborate for Success as a value-added business partner and advisor with cross-functional teams (Corporate EHS, Divisional Operations, Site Operations, Site EHS, HR, Sustainability) to achieve shared objectives and drive sustainable practices.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
15+ years of EHS experience in manufacturing, with strong understanding of regulations and best practices.
Demonstrated leadership ability, excellent communication skills, and capacity to influence diverse stakeholders.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to use data for decision-making and continuous improvement.
Vision for leveraging technology in EHS management within Industry 4.0 context.
Adaptability, resilience, and passion for excellence in a dynamic environment.
Ability to travel 40-50% of the time to facilities in the United States and Canada.
