WEST CAP Intake and Assessment in MENOMONIE, Wisconsin

JOB REQUIREMENTS: West CAP is a forward-thinking organization committed to empowering low-income families in rural communities since 1965. We are currently seeking a full-time Intake & Assessment Specialist for our dynamic Homeless Intervention Team. In this role, you are responsible for assessing client needs for housing assistance, referring clients to appropriate services through West CAP, the West Central Homeless Coalition, and the Western Region of the Balance of State CoC, and coordination of available homeless system capacity among all participating service providers. If you are able to effectively communicate in fluent Spanish, Somali, or Hmong languages this is preferred. This position is based out of our Menomonie location, with opportunities for hybrid remote work after initial training. We foster a trauma-informed environment that prioritizes employee well-being and promotes work-life balance through generous PTO and flexible scheduling options. ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Qualifications: Associate degree in social services or related field and a minimum of 1-2 years\' experience working with people in poverty or experiencing homelessness or equivalent combination thereof. Preferred Bilingual Fluency: Native or near-native proficiency in spoken and written Spanish, Hmong, or Somalian and ability to effectively communicate complex information. Experience in translating written documents and interpreting verbal communication between English and Spanish, Hmong, or Somali. Ability to convey the meaning accurately and maintain cultural nuances Experience with Intake and Assessment: Demonstrated experience conducting client interviews, assessments, and eligibility determinations. Experience with Data Management Systems: Proficiency in using systems like CIS (Client Information System) and HMIS (Homeless Management Information System). Ability to conduct interviews, provide information, and collaborate effectively with clients and other service providers. Ability to manage multiple tasks, keep accurate records, and meet deadlines. Ensuring accuracy in data entry, application processing, and documentation. Understanding of local and regional homeless assistance programs, housing resources, and community-based services. Skilled in using standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office) and data management systems.
