Milwaukee Tool is seeking an Engineering Technician to join our Platform HIL test team. The successful candidate will instrument PCBAs, assemble test benches, and troubleshoot test systems to support development and testing of our firmware.

You’ll also be DISRUPTIVE through these duties and responsibilities:

  • Assemble test benches with test engineering support including PCBAs and wiring.

  • Troubleshoot, rework, and repair prototype power tool PCBA.

  • Repair and rework assemblies as needed to support prototype development and testing.

  • Hand soldering of SMT and through-hole components onto prototype circuit boards.

  • Maintain an expert level of performance in SMT and PTH assembly and rework that keeps pace with our design complexity.

  • Operate various lab equipment such as power supplies, oscilloscopes, and e-loads.

  • Collect data through various equipment and software programs.

  • Build understanding of complex interactions between test equipment hardware and software to support engineering test execution.

  • Create work instructions and documentation for repairs and modifications to PCBA and test equipment

  • Review test results and make recommendations.

  • Create fixtures according to engineering needs.

  • Effectively manage multiple complex tasks to achieve desired outcomes and deliver to deadlines.

  • Participate in the overall maintenance and continuous improvement of the electronic prototyping laboratory and electronics component inventory.

What TOOLS you’ll bring with you:

  • Associates degree in Engineering Technology or High School diploma accompanied by 4+ years of experience.

  • 5+ years of experience with mechanical/electrical principles, test equipment, product life/performance test procedures and methods.

  • Proficient in using data acquisition equipment such as Picoscope, NI cRIO, and NI PXI chassis.

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, engineering drawings and PCB layout files in an environment such as Altium.

  • Experience with downloading microcontroller firmware to the target in a variety of embedded development environments.

  • Knowledge of test concepts in the design and development of products and components.

  • Demonstrated one-on-one communications skills required to resolve project related issues.

  • Proven ability to successfully manage multiple tasks during a given work week (agility) and consistently deliver to a deadline.

  • Computer skills needed to navigate MS Office products, especially Excel.

  • Capability to lift and manipulate 30lbs.

  • Interest and ability to use power tools to simulate consumer usage.

Other TOOLS we prefer you to have

  • Experience in viewing schematics and PCB layout files in an environment such as Altium.

  • Experience in creating 3D models in Solidworks or AutoCAD.

  • Experience with programming languages (NI LabVIEW, Python, or other script-based languages)

  • Experience with National Instruments hardware.

  • Mechanical mindset and aptitude.
