BillionToOne, Inc. Senior Bioinformatics Associate in Menlo Park, California
The Senior Bioinformatics Associate will work in the Bioinformatics Prenatal group and be responsible for building, testing, and deploying core bioinformatics pipelines critical to the operations of the company. The employee will interact with next-generation sequencing (NGS) in the following manner: understand essential laboratory workflow processes, build processes around efficiently transforming and analyzing NGS data, and communicate data and its interpretations to a broader clinical team. The employee will work in a rapid paced environment and is expected to perform analysis of clinical samples for our customers and will be a subject matter expert in their domain. The employee will rapidly isolate issues and provide solutions for essential day-today operations. The employee will report to the single-gene non-invasive paternal testing (sgNIPT) team lead. Telecommuting is permitted from within a normal commuting distance. Employee must be in office at least 2 days per week.
Requirements
: Bachelor degree in chemistry, physics, biophysics, computer science, engineering, biology or related computational field and 2 years of experience in bioinformatic operations in a next generation sequencing clinical lab. Must also possess: 2 years of experience in a domain specializing in the generation and/or transformation of NGS data; 2 years of experience with python and R; 2 years of experience with source code management tools (i.e., git); 2 years of experience developing, debugging, and deploying core infrastructure pipelines and database models as an individual contributor; 2 years of experience root causing core issues and communicating solutions across relevant parties; 1 year experience with SQL; 1 year of experience with Amazon cloud-based services including EC2 and S3; and 1 year of experience with relational database creation and manipulation.
