Job Description:

Responsibilities

The Internship Placement Coordinator will coordinate and serve as a main point of contact for the Pathways to Public Health Internship Program. The incumbent, in conjunction with appropriate staff, will work with internal stakeholders across Office of Public Health (OPH) units, Regional Offices and Local Health Departments (LHD's) to coordinate the placement of public health interns in project-based work. The incumbent will coordinate the emerging leader program in conjunction with other staff, monitoring program details and outcomes. The incumbent will work with external stakeholders, including all workforce training programs, K-12 and degree granting institutions to promote internship opportunities available. The incumbent will be responsible for making recommendations for strengthening and diversifying the public health workforce by providing assistance to OPH center, regional offices and LHD's by identifying the unique project needs across multiple disciplines and field of study and working with external partners to source students to meet those needs. The incumbent will provide support to units and divisions on internship recruitment strategies in conjunction with appropriate Human Resources Departments. The incumbent will recommend recruitment efforts at workforce training institutions, K-12 and higher education institutions. The incumbent will be responsible for making recommendations for marketing and promotional material in conjunction with the Public Affairs Group to promote the internship program to both internal and external stakeholders. In collaboration with appropriate staff, the incumbent will serve as a programmatic resource to interns through onboarding, training, and professional development while promoting careers in public health. The incumbent will solicit feedback and program effectiveness for all stakeholders utilizing data to improve programming. The incumbent may support aspects of strategic planning initiatives to grow the internship program.


Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in a related field and three years of administrative, personnel or closely related experience; OR an Associate's degree in a related field and five years of such experience; OR seven years of such experience. At least one year of experience must have included supervision of staff. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in a related field and three years of experience in internship program development and management at a college/university or public and/or private sector organization. Experience should include building an internship program, managing an internship program and intern development and/or supervisor leadership training and development.

Conditions of Employment

Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.

Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Travel, up to 25% of the time, will be required.

This position may require occasional work on weekends, after-hours, and holidays.

This position requires that the incumbent will report to the official work location and live within commuting distance to the official work location. Telecommuting will be available.
