Baptist Memorial RN-Nurse Practitioner-Preoptimization Clinic - MG Memphis Pre Op Clinic BMG in Memphis, Tennessee
Summary
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides medical evaluation and treatment of Baptist Memphis patients in collaboration with and under the direction of the Supervising Physician. The NP in this role will assess surgical patients in the hospital setting, both inpatient and outpatient, at the Preanesthetic Clinic.The NP will administer a structured program of perioperative optimization for surgical procedures designed to minimize complications and provide consistent and improved outcomes. The NP will apply risk stratification principles to identify patients at risk for complications and apply evidence-based management approaches to mitigate that risk. The NP will support this care with appropriate documentation in the medical record.
Responsibilities
Perform appropriate history and physical for complex, acute, critical, and chronically ill patients.
Order and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic tests.
Prescribe appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities.
Monitor the effectiveness of interventions.
Maintain accurate medical records.
Collaborate with other providers and members of the health care team in delivery of care and make appropriate referrals when needed.
Educate patients and families about medical conditions and treatment plans.
Facilitate staff, patient, and family decision making using evidence-based practice
Participate in research and development projects.
Participate in education of nurse practitioners, nurse practitioner students and medical students.

Requirements, Preferences and Experience
• BLS Basic Life Support - American Heart Association Required
Experience Two (2) years nursing experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
